Rethinking the meaning of terraces is one of YDS’s methods of designing residential buildings.

By considering terraces as voids, the practice thinks about buildings with voids which appear in their facade.

In Wavering Voids, the practice treats every terraces as voids of both inner spaces and outer spaces. Therefore the terraces of each units are not only put in line, but put aside the units.

Creating various housing units would fold multiple life styles by putting terraces freely. Simple architectural operation of placing the walls and terraces produces striking facade with voids and various housing units.

Voids and the terraces penetrate the space of each units so that the light and wind would go through and gently wrap all the spaces.

The intention is to design more worthy residential buildings by designing various housing types and distinctive facade.
